What is Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS)?

COSS is a highly intensive learning experience which educates students on managing Safety effectively within their organization.  Skills achieved in COSS include: calculating the true costs of accidents,  identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions, performing risk assessments for key jobs and procedures, how to develop, implement, maintain safety plans and much more!   COSS focuses on providing Safety Practitioners the tools and techniques needed to make an impact on the safety of their organization.

The COSS program is nationally recognized and endorsed by:
•    American Petroleum Institute (API): COSS is one of 18 programs in the world that is certified by the API
•    American Council for Construction Education (ACCE): COSS is the only non-degree program to receive this national endorsement.
•    Louisiana State University (LSU): LSU has established COSS as a mandatory course for all individuals pursuing a Safety Career.  

Upon completing COSS, graduates receive:
•    National COSS designation
•    OSHA 10-hour card of Completion (General)
•    OSHA 10-hour card of Completion (Construction)
•    40 Contact hours approved by CWEA
